Welcome to PVPhotobase, your portal to the historic images of the Pascack Valley.

PVPhotobase is provided as a service to the community by the Pascack Valley History Project, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit. It has been under development since 2004 when the history project was launched. Visit the history project at www.pvhistory.org

The photobase contains digital copies of photographs, artwork, maps, documents, newspaper clippings, advertisements and other images relating to the history of the Pascack Valley.

The images have been provided by local historians, libraries, individuals, artists, organizations, businesses, and towns. They believe, as we do, that history belongs to everyone and have made their materials available so that you, the community, can enjoy them and learn from them.

In addition to the images themselves, the photobase also contains information about each image. Threo items that are always present are the source of the image, its location and the category of image, ie. photo, postcard, etc. Where available we may have a description of what the image depicts, the date the image was created, the names of people shown in the image.

PVPhotobase is designed to be interactive. If you are viewing an image and you have some additional information about it, please use the link we have provided to send us details on the image so that we may add the information to the photobase. This will allow the photobase to grow in interest and and value as it is used.

PVPhotobase is provided as a community service, but it does take money to operate, including the cost of the specialized equipment required to digitize a wide variety of image formats. We have worked with photo prints, slides, negatives, large newspapers, and a variety of other materials. PLEASE consider donating to the history project to help fund our activities.
